Sri Lanka Tourism gears up for the So Sri Lanka Pro 2019

World Surfing League Qualifying Series 3000, also referred to as So Sri Lanka Pro 2019 is all set to be staged at the World class point break of Arugam Bay from September 25th to 29th of this month, with the participation of over 70 surfers from 18 nations. A press conference was held recently at the Olympic house, Colombo 07 in this regard, to create awareness among the media and public about the the event which is to take place. This is considered as an event which will boost the tourism sector as well as further promote surfing in Sri Lanka as a sport. The press conference was held under the patronage of Hon. Minister of Tourism Development, Wildlife & Christian Religious Affairs, John Amaratunga, amidst a distinguished gathering including Chairman, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, Mr. Kishu Gomes, Mr. Steve Robertson, Asia Tour Manager, World Surf League ,Mr. Hiran Ukwatte, President Surfing Federation of Sri Lanka, Mr. Gayan Peiris, Manager, Corporate events, Sri Lankan Airlines, and Mr. P.T Weerasinghe, chairman, Sri Lanka Sportreizen.

While entries are still being received, nearly 70 surfers from 18 nations have entered the final list. This impressive lineup includes participating countries such as Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Portugal, Israel, Belgium, USA, Indonesia, Brazil, Peru, Canada, Argentina, France, South Africa, Great Britain, Chile among others.
