India continues to be the biggest source market for tourism. In January 2016 alone there was a 26% increase in Indian Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka in comparison to the same period last year.

Demand for Sri Lanka as a tourist destination is growing rapidly in India and locations such as Colombo, Kandy, Bentota are the favorites amongst the Indian Travelers while the demand for other tourist attractions in Galle, Yala , Hikkaduwa are quickly picking up.

Sri Lanka Tourism continues to grow the Indian market with a focus on promoting Sri Lanka as a wedding destination and participation at the OTM 2016 in Mumbai along with the 25 companies from travel and tourism Industry of Sri Lanka is another positive step in this direction.  Mumbai and New Delhi are the two biggest outbound tourist markets in India, contributing over half of all overseas travel from the country.

OTM is the largest travel trade show held in Mumbai, connecting the global travel fraternity for more than two decades and also the only travel show in India with a balanced mix of travel trade, corporate and general visitors. It is the best platform for marketing to the Indian travel trade, MICE segment and leisure travelers.

Every year, OTM draws participants from National Tourist Organizations, State Government Tourism Departments, Tour Operators, Travel Agents, Hotels & Resorts, Airlines, Online Travel Agencies and many other segments.
