Deputy Minister of Tourism, Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Presents the National Flag in a Ceremony at Gangaramaya Temple

Colombo, Sri Lanka – April 21, 2025 – Nalani Madhushani Wickramaratna, crowned Elite Queen of the World – Sri Lanka in 2024, is set to represent Sri Lanka at the globally renowned "Queen of the World International Pageant – Class of 2025" in New York City, USA. Competing in the Elite category for ages 45–55, the 50-year-old trailblazer is making history as the first Sri Lankan woman to participate in this segment of the competition.

In a special ceremony held at the Gangaramaya Buddhist Temple, Hunupitiya, Colombo 02, Hon. Prof. Ruwan Ranasinghe, Deputy Minister of Tourism, presented the Sri Lankan national flag to Ms. Wickramaratna. The location added a symbolic touch to the event, emphasizing Sri Lanka’s cultural heritage and spiritual significance.

“This is not just an individual achievement; it’s a moment for all Sri Lankans to unite and take pride in our culture and talent being represented on such a prestigious stage. As part of the nation’s ongoing efforts to promote Sri Lanka as one of the world’s best tourism destinations, Ms. Wickramaratna’s participation serves as another significant opportunity to shine a spotlight on the country. Her presence at this prestigious platform will bring global attention to Sri Lanka’s vibrant culture, heritage, and talent.

Nalani Madhushani Wickramaratna, a certified cosmetologist, nail technologist, and Director of Veepee Graphic Solutions, was crowned Elite Queen of the World – Sri Lanka in November 2024, earning her the honor of representing the nation. “This is a proud moment to showcase Sri Lanka’s rich culture and talent globally,” she expressed during the ceremony, sharing her excitement and gratitude.

The "Queen of the World International Pageant – Class of 2025" celebrates a holistic view of beauty, emphasizing qualities like confidence, compassion, and intelligence. Set to take place from May 6–10, with the grand finale and coronation on May 10, the event will spotlight extraordinary women from various countries.

Under the leadership of national director Ms. Nadeeka Senevirathna, Ms. Wickramaratna’s journey to the international stage highlights the spirit of Sri Lankan excellence. The nation eagerly anticipates her success in this global event.
