Raid Amazones, the largest tourism program in the country after the Covid -19 pandemic - Day 02

Raid Amazones 2022, the largest tourism sports event to take place after the Covid 19 pandemic, began its first stage of the Tournament on 16th of March 2022. Approximately 600 athletes take part in the Raid Amazones adventure event, the first stage of the two-stage tournament will be held from the 14th to the 22nd while the second half will be held from the 28th to the 6th of April. The tournament will be held in Kaudulla, Medirigiriya, Wewala, Kandalama, Sigiriya and Mahawilgamuwa areas.

 


The first stage will feature 253 contestants and 63 staff, while the second round will feature 216 contestants, also including 63 staff members. As a popular annual adventure sports competition that originated in France, the tournament includes running, rowing, mountain biking, mapping and compass-assisted cross-country skiing, and archery. A special uniform has been designed especially for this purpose highlighting the unique features of Sigiriya Fort.

The second day of the event which was held yesterday (17th March) included canoeing, whereas also participating in a cookery demonstration and spending some time with students of a local school.  This time, Raid Amazones will be holding its 20th sporting event up to date, as Sri Lankan Airlines emerges as the official Airline partner, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau.
