Introduction
SIBA Campus is a unique liberal arts higher educational institution set up within a monastic and eco-friendly environment. It is both national and international in scope, grounded on Buddhist principles and, designed to produce local, national, and international religious, social, and political leaders who are fully competent with 21st Century skills and simultaneously Dhamma practitioners and disseminators. Its education aims at producing graduates who are:
Knowledgeable in in their own domains of study and gain experience;
Exponents of 21st Century Skills to be a successful global citizen;
Conversant in both humanities and social science disciplines;
Fluent in English language and another foreign language;
Equipped with management, communication and IT skills;
Unbiased, unprejudiced, exemplary, positive, active, creative, and dynamic in character;
Employs Soft Skills, diplomatic, tolerant, sympathetic, empathetic and accountable as generic skills;
Enthusiastic in maintaining a proper balance between moral and material development;
Committed to maintain law and order, and discipline in society and enhance social, economic, political, and religious well-being of all individuals and social groups and communities.
SIBA is a Regional Centre for Buddhist studies and SIBA has foreign students from 12 countries following BA, MA and PhD programs in Buddhist Studies. All are provided with on Campus Hostel Accommodation. Everyone at SIBA is provided with English Language and IT Skills. Beside there are 30 Scholarships offered to Sri Lankan students to follow BA Special Degree in Buddhist Studies.
Student population
SIBA Campus is a co-educational Institution. Currently having 1200 Students. The composition of SIBA Student Population: 90 Buddhist Monks; 60 Foreign Students from 12 Countries; 700 Female Students; and 500 Male Students. Over 650 follow Diploma Course; 400 Undergraduates and 50 Post Graduate Students and a few Certificate level students.
