Two young cricketers’ groups arrive from UK to reinforce travelers’ confidence in Sri Lanka as a safe and welcoming travel destination

Sri Lanka Tourism, in collaboration with Crusader Sports & Leisure Tours, has planned bring two groups of young cricketers in UK to in Sri Lanka consisting of a total of 86 members of both groups, on 12th and 14th December respectively. These include 5 groups in each delegation. The first delegation arrived on the 12th of December 2025, at the Bandaranaike International Airport, and was received with a warm welcome along with a Cultural dance troupe entertaining them. The visitors also received souvenirs from Sri Lanka Tourism, to give them a lasting impression and a unique memory of their visit. This arrival of this group of young English cricketers presents a timely and valuable opportunity to boost up traveler’s confidence in Sri Lanka as a safe and welcoming travel destination, also which is a good sign for Sri Lanka Tourism, in receiving delegations as these in large numbers. This arrival will further contribute to develop sports tourism in Sri Lanka, gaining friendship, unity and connectivity for Young Sri Lankan sports men and women, to coordinate with their foreign counterparts. A netball team consisting of 17 members also arrived, and making it come to a total of 103 pax.

During their stay the young cricketers will also play matches with some Local schools in Colombo, Galle and Kurunegala,and also in different venues. An interesting travel schedule awaits them as they will visit several local attractions including the Elephant Transit home in Udawalawe, participating in a Safari Game drive at the Udawalawe National Park, whale watching in Mirissa and visiting the Kosgoda Turtle hatchery and viewing the sunrise from the Sigiriya rock fortress. This will be an excellent experience for them as well as taking back good memories of their stay in Sri Lanka, passing the message around their fellow citizens to come and visit the paradise island. The second delegation will arrive on the 14th of December, 2025.

This is yet another classic example that Sri Lanka has always been able to attract tourists with its unique hospitality and culture, which always keeps them spellbound. Thus, Sri Lanka Tourism further encourage travelers to come and explore the unique travel opportunities of this paradise island, and the warm smiles and the hospitality which you will not receive anywhere else in the world.
