Sri Lanka Photo Marathon will be held in October, attracts hundreds of Photo enthusiasts including tourists

Sri Lanka’s largest photography event Photomarathon 2017 organized by Metropolitan PhotoHub Pvt Ltd on behalf of Canon and endorsed by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotions Bureau will be held on Saturday 21 October with the participation of over 400 photographers and tourists.

The event is a milestone in the Sri Lanka photography industry and aims to promote Sri Lanka through the eyes of the visitors to domestic and international audiences. Similar events have been organized in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia in previous years but this is the second time the event is being hosted by Sri Lanka.

This is an open event for anyone who wants to participate. We have two categories. One is the student category and the other is the adult open category. We anticipate a reasonable number of tourists participating this year.

The contest will have two parts where contestants will have the opportunity to take photographs and submit them under two themes selected on the day. The grand prize of the photo marathon is a fully paid photography learning trip to Japan together with a Canon EOS 6D Mark II professional DSLR camera.

This would be a similar experience to the Amazing race but this instance, the race is to capture the best photograph within a limited time frame.

A team of three independent judges will be selecting the winning photographs.

Metropolitan PhotoHub have pioneered many events and promoted the growth of the photography industry and the tourism industry in Sri Lanka in the past. This event is another milestone in these initiatives and this time the beneficiaries wont only be the photography industry

The organizers of photomarathon informed that they will be donating part of the registration fees to a charity as had been done last year.
