The Lanka Challenge TUK TUK Rally is an event that was partnered by Sri Lanka tourism every year since 2009. The 8th edition of the event will take place in 2016.Lanka Challenge is a charity driven responsible travel event, raised over USD 50,000 since 2009. Also the event has over 55 international event participants from over 12 different nationalities. It is an ultimate self-driven, adventure challenge with more than 1200 km travelled across Sri Lanka.Julian Carnall, Founder and organizes of the large minority travel, which along with Juan Paredes co foundered the Lanka Challenge.

Providing participating teams consisting of two to three drivers a close up and personal experience of some of the most fascinating historical site and natural delights of the island, while raising money for local charities and environmental organization. The Lanka Challenge team will continue to support its local partners; the Red Cross Society of Sri Lanka Land Owners Restore Rainforest in Sri Lanka. A total of 10 percent of each team’s entry fee will be allocated towards different charitable projects.

The Lanka challenge is not a Race, it’s “challenge”. The format of the challenge has been put together such way that speed is not the number one property. The Lanka challenge is combinations of timed legs and challenges. The winning team is determined by the total accumulate challenge time minus the total time deductions resulting from challenges successfully completed.

The Lanka Challenge will be broken up into different driving legs (as per the route).Each team will be given a Road map book and daily navigational sheet where no GPS is allowed which they must use to navigate from the beginning to end of the each leg.

The Challenges will be made out of adventurous, cultural and ecological and will involve the local community. In some instances, teams will compete against each other and others they will need to work together in order to achieve a common goal.

 

In addition, the teams will also need to successfully complete different picture and video challenges.

- Day 2 Minuwangoda to Sigiriya 135 km
- Day 3 Sigiriya to Wasgamuwa 93km.
- Day 4 Wasgamuwa to Pasikuda 142km.
- Day 5 Pasikuda to Arugambay 145km.
- Day 6 Rest Day at Arugambay.
- Day 7 Arugambay to Udawalawa 172km.
- Day 8 Udawalawa to Mirrisa 110km.
- Day 9 Mirrisa to Beruwala 95km.
- Day 10 Benthota to Colombo 56km.
- Day 11 Departures Colombo.
